The economical sports car is a growing trend, and now even better. Welcome the Toyota GT86 convertible. The car spied briefly during guarded testing in South Africa is expected to be released at the Geneva Motor Show this year. No talk of whether it has a folding fabric or mechanical hardtop but lets hope it still drives with the fun shown on the recent episode of Top Gear last week.
The car features the thin tyres on the rear from the Toyota Prius… why you ask? Well this ensures that on most corners it getss bit sideways. As explained by Jeremy Clarkson the point of this car is not to be the fastest, but ensure the happiest driver on every road, in every condition.
The Toyota GT86 is a joint project with the Subaru BRZ which shares the exact same platform as well as performance and styling. The only differences are the badges and options otherwise you have an exactly same car. It is said to be the best car for sale under £30’000 if you want constant smiles and a fairly efficient ride. Expect to see plenty of these GT86′s/BRZ’s on the road in coming months and years as its pretty sure that Subaru and Toyota have made a sure winner.
