The pictures you see are reported to be the 2013 5th Gen iPad backing. In true fashion for this time of year, it seems one of Apples upcoming products has been leaked a bit too early. The guys down at 9to5Mac.com managed to get their mits on what they are reported is a backing plate released from a Chinese accessory manufacturer. If true we know Apple won’t be happy, having their internal police try and find the mole.
What appears to be made from the same material as the first generation iPad mini, which itself only has been released, its also features curved edges and that unfortunate fingerprint attracting material.
As internal specifications go, there are not much to go by for the 5th Generation iPad, however its release does raise a few questions. It is normal for spy shots to be sourced between 3 and 5 months before a product’s release, however this ones timing doesn’t stick to Apple’s release schedule.
Going on a few other rumours circulating we could suggest that Apple are soon to release a 128GB variant of the current generation iPad in March, with a possible further release of a retina display iPad mini due in October, along with this 5th Generation iPad.
There are also rumours of a cheaper iPhone due in October to expand the line up, which will offer iPhone thrills but with plastic iPod styling.
